"Ah," you think to yourself. "Maybe I will take a little break and do some meditative crafting. I've had the leftovers of this ball of recycled silk yarn lying around and have been meaning to make the crazy belt out of it."
Beware! The pattern name includes the word "crazy"... is that not enough warning?
Apparently not, since some anonymous crafter found herself in this exact situation and decided to embark on the project. As she measured out lengths of the yarn, the center-pull ball exploded and had to be rewound into a normal ball, but the crafter still persisted. She crocheted the base chains which seemed to have no rhyme or reason... again, it was a crazy belt. Soon, the crafter's lap was covered with stray silk threads of every color, since the pattern instructs that lengths of yarn over 10 feet long be pulled through slipknots repeatedly. This would probably be fine if the yarn being used were something that was plied or spun into a more cohesive unit than recycled silk yarn.
The crafter and the yarn now feel a bit frazzled. One of them is now consuming banana chips... bananas?

words of advice
Say it is 11 pm on a Sunday night and you are feeling a bit frazzled from reading. The weather has been starting to turn to fall and you think to yourself that you could use a little extra color, in the form of a scarf, in your life.

too bad you didn't take a before and after (covered with fuzz) picture!
