there were quite a few recipes that piqued my interest but there were two that definitely made my to-do list.
there were the baklava cupcakes by aral traven...
and the black sesame peanut butter cupcakes by joann...
since i didn't have any black sesames in the house the baklava cupcakes came first! hahaha... i followed the recipe almost exactly except for the amount of sugar in the recipe (i went 3/4 cup rather than 1 cup). the resulting cupcake was moist with a really nice walnut taste to it. the honey frosting was a good pairing with the walnut cupcake but i think it would be even better with some something crunchy added to the top (reminescent of baklava). a couple of things come to mind in this category: strips of deep fried won ton skins, honey roasted walnuts, rice krispies... hmmmm... i guess i'll figure that out the next time i make them!
