chaos and royal octopi

I was recently seized by the chaos monster, the one that says, "Your room is a mess. Maybe you should reorganize. It will reduce the stress caused by all the chaos." The monster does not mention that moving all the furniture about and sorting through stacks of paper will actually make a larger mess that will spread into additional rooms in the apartment and stress you out even more.

In the midst of this, I was trying to throw things away, but, alas, I am a packrat. I did a little happy dance whenever I was able to chuck out something. Sometimes, I need moral support. When that moral support fails and people tell you not to throw things away, life becomes difficult. Argh. For example, I found a pink octopus that I crocheted sometime within the last two years. It was a faceless head with eight legs. I had originally planned to make some sort of sealife menagerie, but stalled. I was going to toss him into the garbage bag, but someone told me no. I added a face and a crown and packed the octopus king off to the offending person. Ha! I didn't throw it away! I also forgot to take pictures.

At first, I was going to help by saying, "throw it out!"

But then when you said what it was, I was thinking, "oh, but you can't throw that away..."

So, I guess I'm not much help. :)

Lately, I've just been throwing out a LOT of school paper. It feels SO good every time I empty the paper recycling bin. Gone gone gone! :)

Yay for throwing things away!! I wasn't exaggerating about doing a happy dance, either.
